Korean Fashion

Korean fashion is now acknowledged worldwide but it has a long back story to tell...
Korean people started using various fabrics like Hemp (Sambe 삼베) and Ramie (Mosi 모시) around 9th century. They also used silk and cotton fabric to make clothes and those clothes were not only attractive but also effectively protective in odd seasons.

Korean people used a very creative method of filling soft cotton in two layers of material like silk or cotton fabric and stitched them artistically. Those clothes were used by them in winter season to protect themselves. For summer, they produced light and cool clothes using hemp and ramie. Those clothes were traditional Korean attire which is also known as Hanbok (한복)

Hanbok is a traditional attire which people wear on different occasions such as festivals, weddings, birthdays or funeral.
Hanbok has a very old history,it came a long way from 5000 years back. It was worn on daily basis up until 100 years ago. But now it is only worn on special occasions.

Although Hanbok is a traditional dress, it has been incorporated with modern designs by so many well known designers. From 1996, Hanbok Day is celebrated every year on October 21st in Korea to keep the love for their cultural clothe alive in their hearts.

Today, Korea is like a hub for many well known designers. Who have gained reputation internationally with their creative beautiful designs, which comes up as the combination of traditional Korean culture and modern artistic thinking. The beauty of modern and cultural dresses are appreciated internationally. The Capital of Korea, Seoul is also known as fashion capital, places like Dongdaemun-gu (동대문구) and Gangnam-gu (강남구) are famous for creative fashionable items. Thanks to PSY because of his famous Song 'Gangnam Style' (2012) the Gangnam District is now world known. It is the largest district in Seoul with Korea's busiest streets.

Dongdaemun-gu is one of the most famous district among foreign tourists because of its affordable, creative, fashionable products. And, there is a market in Jung District (중구) that enjoys international attention for modern fashionable clothing is Myeongdong Market (명동 시장).
            To summate, Korean fashion is now worldly appreciated and for this the K-pop and K-drama has played a vital role. Now, Korea is one of the most popular attractions among foreign tourists and talented aspiring designers.

Gyeonghuigung Palace

One of the five grand palaces of Joseon dynasty period - The Gyeonghuigung Palace (경희궁) . The Gyeonghuigung Palace The palace is located in Seoul, South Korea. It is constructed in 17th century during the reign of King Gwanghae (Yi-Hon). For around 200 years this beautiful palace was home for ten Joseon kings. The palace is also known as Seogwol (Western Palace) because its location is towards west when compare with other neighboring palaces of Changdeokgung ( Eastern Palace) and Gyeongbokgung (Northern Palace). Changgyeonggung Palace

  Changgyeonggung Palace is one of the five grand palaces built in joseon dynasty period. This palace was built by king Sejong in the mid of  15th century for his father (Taejong). It was originally named as 'Suganggung Palace'. Changgyeonggung Palace  In 1480's, when king Seongjong ascended the throne he renovated and extended this palace and renamed it as 'Changgyeonggung'.    This palace was destroyed by fire in 1592 during the Imjin war. However, it was partially rebuilt by latter joseon kings. But during japanese colonial period (1910-1945) this palace was again destroyed but this time the japanese built a botanical garden, a zoo and a museum on that location.
